Join this flotilla from Kos to explore some of the smaller and lesser known islands of the Dodecanese - an irresistible flotilla choice for more experienced sailors.
This sailing area in the south-east Aegean stretches along the coast of Turkey and is a wonderful sailing destination for flotilla sailing holidays. It suits sailors looking for stronger winds and longer passages between unspoilt islands.
Once you set sail you will discover islands which have completely escaped tourism - Leros, Kalymnos, Niseros, Simi and Tilos. Here you'll find traditional fishing ports and quiet waterfront restaurants. The swimming and snorkelling is superb in many locations and Kalymnos, once the centre of sea sponge fishing in the Med, has many interesting dive sites.
Winds are variable ranging from moderate to fresh Force 4–6, with stronger winds during the meltemi season from late July through to late August, so this flotilla is recommended for more experienced sailors.
Level 1
Winds force 2-3 (4-11 Knots)combined with generally shorter distances. Good for beginner or intermediate sailors. Line-of-sight navigation but basic knowledge of charts and ability to plot your position required.
Level 2
Winds force 3-5 (7-21 Knots) with approximately 15-20nm per day. Intermediate experience required. Predominately line of sight navigation but an understanding of how to sail in open water.
Level 3
Winds force 4-6 (11-27 Knots) with mileage of approximately 20nm+ per day. Ideal for experienced skippers looking to venture out to new destinations. Day skipper standard but with experienced crew would be recommended.
