Göcek Bays

Göcek is the most sheltered — and arguably the most refined — cruising ground on the Turkish coast: a small, yacht-focused town at the head of a bay ringed by a dozen pine-covered islands, the whole area protected as a Special Environmental Protection Zone. The bays sit minutes apart in calm, green water, making Göcek the favourite first and last night of countless gulet itineraries.

A Göcek bays charter is about slowing down. Anchor among the tiny islets of the Yassıca Islands, walk the Ottoman shipyard ruins on Tersane Island, swim over the submerged ancient bath at Cleopatra's (Sunken) Bath, or tuck into the pine-fringed calm of Sarsala and Domuz Island. There are almost no roads here — most of these anchorages can only be reached by boat.
