Göcek is a small, green marina town at the head of a beautiful protected gulf on Turkey's Lycian coast, ringed by pine-covered hills and dotted with islands and quiet coves. The whole gulf is a conservation area, so it stays calm, unspoilt and blissfully sheltered — a favourite starting point for those who know the coast.
From Göcek the sailing is gentle and short-hop: the islands and bays of the gulf itself, then out to neighbouring Fethiye and the Twelve Islands, or along the Lycian shore to Ölüdeniz and beyond. It shares its waters with Fethiye, so the two combine naturally.

Göcek's own gulf is a cluster of sheltered, pine-backed anchorages — Boynuzbükü, Kızılkuyruk, Bedri Rahmi Bay with its painted rock, the Yassıca islands and the old shipyard cove of Tersane — all within an easy hour or two of each other, in calm, protected water. Many days you barely raise the sails.
Beyond the gulf, Fethiye and the Twelve Islands lie just to the south, and the Lycian coast runs on to Ölüdeniz, Butterfly Valley and Gemiler Island. Because everything is close and sheltered, Göcek is superb for relaxed, unhurried cruising — and combines easily with Fethiye into a longer week.
